Blog 2 - Dream A Little Dream

I googled "What is the nature of dreams?" and the best response I read said that dreams show that our brain is capable of generating an entire world of conscious experiences by itself every night a person sleeps (https://corrosion-doctors.org › Dreaming is Personal › Introduction). I agree that dreams can be like a different world. One’s imagination has free range over the dream realm. I believe that dreams are a way to work through problems and relax from real life. Dreams can also reflect one’s unconscious self and true feelings that can get suppressed.

I don't really believe in coincidences since I think of the universe as a collective consciousness. All lives are connected and things (good and bad) happen with reason. I sometimes dream about a person before I see them unexpectedly. I don't feel surprised since my dream implied I would have some contact with them. I once dreamt a friend was pregnant with a son and it came true; she found out she was pregnant shortly after telling her my dream. As crazy as it seemed I knew the dream held great importance and felt compelled to share the vision I had. This and a few other similar experiences reaffirmed my belief that we are joined in a collective consciousness.

Dreams can be a distortion of reality. In this way dreams are like memories. Over time memories can become corrupted or altered by the subconscious.  We can picture a memory in our minds in the same way we see images when we dream. I believe it’s this connection that allows our imaginations to affect how we remember a memory.
